Congratulations to the amazing Pearl City Chargers who capped an incredible and undefeated OIA regular and post season with a 10-2 win over the Aiea Na Ali’i on Friday at McKinley High School and captured the 2025 Oahu Interscholastic Association Division II Softball Championship Crown.
The Chargers are 11-0 and have outscored their OIA DII opponents 166-28. The OIA Champions will move on the 2025 HHSAA State DII Softball Championships scheduled for May 6-9.
Pearl City led from the first inning to the final out in the top of the seventh inning.
Charger starting pitcher Haley Shinjo took care of business from the circle pitching 5.3 innings while allowing 7 hits, 2 runs with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts. Aleia-Lyn Tonaki Sagucio pitched in relief of Shinjo allowing 2 hits, no runs, with I walk and 2 strikeouts in 1.6 innings.
Aiea’s Chrijon Peneueta took the loss for the Na Ali’i pitching 1.0 innings while allowing 6 hits, 4 runs with 1 strikeout. Taja Souza pitched in relief for the Na Ali’i.
The Chargers put together another impressive display of power at the plate with Phoenix Sky Lumabao leaving the yard with a HR while batting 2-2 with a RBI and 4 runs scored.
Congratulations to Phoenix Sky who was named Impact Player of the Game by Spectrum OC 16.
Saunette upped her doubles totals on the season picking up a couple doubles while batting 3-4 with 2 runs scored.
