The Pearl City Chargers continued to dominate their opponents in the Oahu Interscholastic Association Division 2 Softball regular season after overpowering the visiting Waialua Bulldogs 17-7 (F/6) on Thursday at Pearl City High School.
With the win, the Chargers improved to a perfect 6-0 in league standings while the Bulldogs come in at to 4-2.
The Chargers jumped on the Bulldogs scoring 12 runs in the bottom of the first inning. Waialua mounted a late rally scoring 5 runs in the top of the fifth inning followed by 2 more runs in the top of the sixth inning to trail the Chargers 12-7. Pearl City rallied back scoring 1 run in the bottom of the fifth inning and 4 more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning enforcing the 10-run rule at 17-7.
Pearl City starting pitcher Aleia-Lyn Tonaki-Sagucio earned the win for the Chargers. Aleia pitched 5 complete innings while allowing 7 runs, 8 hits with 4 walks and 3 strikeouts. Haley Shinjo pitched the sixth inning in relief.
Waialua’s Harlee Dicion took the loss for the Bulldogs. Dicion pitched 3 innings while allowing 12 runs, 8 hits with 5 walks and no strikeouts. Aika Guzman pitched 2.6 innings in relief for the Bulldogs while allowing 5 runs, 5 hits with 3 walks and no strikeouts.
Pearl City’s Saunette Oshiro celebrated Charger Senior Night with an outstanding performance at the plate hitting 3-4 with a homerun, double, 3 RBI and 4 runs scored. Maile Oda batted 2-3 with a triple, RBI and 3 runs scored, and Samantha Nakamatsu batted 3-4, with 2 doubles, RBI and 2 runs scored. All three Charger teammates demonstrated pure power at the plate.

Pearl City’s Saunette Oshiro celebrated Charger Senior Night with an outstanding performance at the plate hitting 3-4 with a homerun, double, 3 RBI and 4 runs scored. Oshiro was the lone Senior from the Class of 2025 on the Chargers roster.
