The Kamehameha-Kapalama Warriors defeated the Pearl City Chargers 4-0 last night in the quarterfinals of the 2024 HHSAA State Division I Baseball Championship Playoffs at Les Murakami Stadium.
A commanding pitching performance by Kamehameha starting pitcher Kainoa Kaneshiro backed up by a tough Warrior defense, turned back the Chargers on a windy and rainy night that caused two rain delays that began after 5 ½ innings and threatened an early end to the ball game. The rain slowed down to a sprinkle after the second rain delay and the game went seven innings for the 4-0 final.
Kaneshiro held Pearl City to 3 hits, no runs, with 3 walks and 5 strikeouts in 5 innings on the hill for the Warriors. Logan Sanchez pitched two complete innings in relief to close out the ball game. Sanchez had a solid performance in relief allowing no runs, no hits, with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts.
Pearl City starting pitcher Jase Lorenzo held the potent Kamehameha battery to 4 hits while allowing 4 runs with 1 walk and 2 strikeouts in 5 complete innings. Noah Kia pitched 1 inning in relief of Lorenzo allowing no runs, no hits, with 1 walk and no strikeouts.
