The Pearl City Chargers came out of a three-game losing streak in a big way by overpowering the Kapolei Hurricanes 17-2 on Saturday in OIA West Division I Baseball played at Kapolei High School. The Chargers took a 8-2 lead into the top of the sixth inning and exploded for 9 runs to put the game away. Kapolei went scoreless in the bottom of the sixth inning where the game was called after six complete innings.
The Chargers (1-3) picked up their first win of the regular season while the Hurricanes fell below.500 at 1-2.
Pearl City’s Drew Boyles put together a double threat, outstanding performance picking up the win as the Chargers starting pitcher throwing three complete innings while allowing 1 hit, no runs, with 4 strikeouts, and at the plate Drew batted 4-4 with 2 doubles, 2 RBI, and 1 run scored.
Devin Fujino and Wyatt Loo pitched for a combined three innings in relief for the Chargers.

Kapolei’s Halona Felix took the loss in 1 1/3 innings of work for the Hurricanes. Felix allowed 7 runs, 4 hits with no strikeouts. Kapolei used seven pitchers in the ball game.
Kapolei will return to action on Wednesday, March 22 against Nanakuli at Kapolei High School. First pitch 3:00pm.
