The visiting Campbell Sabers shut down the Pearl City Chargers on Wednesday in a solid performance by starting pitcher Hunter Lindsey who held the Chargers to 2 hits, 1 run, with 2 strikeouts in 6 complete innings of work. Kalaeloaloa Kalua allowed no runs and 1 hit to close out the bottom of the seventh inning for the Sabers.
Pearl City starting pitcher Jayden Mizuno took the loss pitching 3 1/3 innings while allowing 8 runs, 11 hits, with 3 strikeouts.
At the plate, the Sabers pounding out 12 hits to the Chargers 2 hits in the ball game. Xavier Streadbeck, Shaveh Sarono, and Dayton Lorenzo had productive performances at the plate for the Sabers with Streadbeck hitting 3-3 with a double, 3 RBI, and 2 runs scored, Sarono batting 3-4 with 2 doubles, 2 RBI and one run scored, and Dayton Lorenzo went 2-4 with 2 runs scored.
Pearl City’s Jayson Au Hoy went 2-3 while picking up both of the Chargers hits powering a double and triple.
The Chargers scored their single run in the bottom of the second inning with the Sabers scoring back to back 4 run innings in the top of the third and fourth and scoring their final run of the ball game in the top of the seventh inning.
Campbell improved to a perfect 3-0 and #1 in OIA West Division I regular season standings, while Pearl City falls to 0-3 and sits in the bottom of league standings.
Campbell and Pearl City will return to action on Saturday, March 18 with Campbell (3-0) traveling to Aiea (1-1) and Pearl City taking on Kapolei (1-1) at Kapolei High School. First pitch for both games is scheduled for 11:00am
