Jerzie Liana pitched Kapolei over Pearl City 13-2 in OIA Western Division I softball action on Tuesday at Pearl City. The Lady Hurricanes victory came on the Lady Chargers opening day of their brand new softball complex. Liana went the distance pitching seven complete innings while allowing 2 runs, 5 hits with 8 strikeouts. Liane was also a force at the plate batting 3-4 with 2 RBI and 3 runs scored,
Pearl City starting pitcher Grace Kikuchi took the loss pitching 3 innings while allowing 7 runs, 6 hits with 1 strikeout.
Ava Puaatuua pitched 4 innings in relief for the Lady Chargers allowing 6 runs, 8 hits with 1 strikeout.
Lady Hurricanes power hitter Moani Ioane batted 3-4 with 2 RBI, 2 runs scored and made history hitting the first homerun in the new ballpark with a blast to centerfield.
Cheylene Valdez-Asato had a solid performance at the plate for the Lady Hurricanes hitting 3-5 with a triple, double, and 2 RBI.
Kapolei improved to 7-2 in league play while Pearl City fell to 1-8.
The Lady Chargers will finish the regular season on Friday against the Campbell Lady Sabers at Pearl City High School. The Lady Chargers will also bid Aloha to the 2022 Senior Lady Chargers.
