Pearl City High School’s Purple Tree Project unearths decades old Purple Passion

Check out what was unearthed this morning during the Purple Tree Planting work day at Pearl City High School. Volunteers representing PCHS alumni, former teachers, staff, and current PCHS students, staff, administrators, and community volunteers came together to plant 5 crepe myrtle trees on the school campus in celebration of the school’s 50th Anniversary. Each tree represents the 5 different decades.

As volunteers were digging a hole for one of the trees to be planted on the makai side of C building, they hit something solid and dug out an old soda can. What was truly amazing was that lettering on the can read, “PURPLE PASSION”. What! PURPLE PASSION extracted from a hole that was being prepared as the new home for A Crepe Myrtle “PURPLE TREE”!

There’s a possibility that the soda can may have been in the ground since the school was first built over 50 years ago. Here is what may be undeniable proof below from a company online that is selling a vintage can of PURPLE PASSION for $24.00.
