I met a wonderful soul today at the WALL – “With Aloha, Love Lives” that truly brightened my day with kindness and hope. Raquel rode by the WALL early this morning with a payload of two bags of cans that she was about to cash in at the Reynolds recycling center located in the Pearl City Shopping Center parking lot. After her trip to the recycling center, Raquel stopped back at the WALL and we chatted for a while. She told that that every morning she makes her way around Pearl City picking up bags of cans that her friends leave for her. She explained that every penny earned from recycling goes towards supporting our schools.
Raquel has a beautiful spirit and at 81 years old, is going strong and enjoying life while giving back to her community and to those in need. She is a ray of sunshine that beams from her heart.
