Rotary Club of Pearlridge (RCOP) community volunteers delivered free dictionaries to third grade students and their teachers at Waiau Elementary School on Wednesday, September 13, 2017.
The dictionaries were donated by the Rotary Club of Pearlridge as a part of Rotary International's annual Dictionary 5000 Project. RCOP President Lasar McCabe, was joined by RCOP Board Members, Rick Lau, Gordon Arakaki, and me, Barry Villamil, during the dictionary distribution and presentation program.
Over 400 third grade students and their teachers representing twelve Pearl City and Aiea elementary schools will receive free dictionaries during the 2017-2018 school year.
Pearlridge Rotarians will return to each school at the end of the school year to award one student who best exemplified the Principals of Rotary International's "Four Way Test" with a Good Citizen Award and a $50.00 check. A copy of the “Four Way Test” was included in each dictionary. Good Citizen Award winners will be selected by their teachers.

The Rotary Club of Pearlridge is dedicated to enhancing the educational experience of our students through the support of programs such as the annual Rotary International Dictionary 5000 Project.
