I would like to send a big mahalo to Cyndy of Lyz And PER Inc. and my Uncle Tommy for donating recycles monthly so I could get some of the backpacks and school supplies for my annual Stuffed With Aloha backpack drive for the children of Maililand. Also to my sister, Kamalani, for donating some of her hard earned money she worked for at the 1st annual Kid's Inc held at Ka Makana Ali'i. And last but not least, my "hard head", "go-getter" mom, who supposed to be resting this summer after having surgeries on her legs. (at times she'd stress me out because she wouldn't keep still and she's not supposed to carry things yet she was sorting all the backpacks and school supplies by grade levels as they came in). Somehow she managed to get strength to make sure I follow through with this even though at times I wanted to give up because I was more concerned about her well-being.
It was very emotional for both my mom and I this year as we passed out the backpacks and supplies. Each family thanked us and gave us a little speech of appreciation and it made us tear up. They asked us if we would be doing this again next year. And we had them in tears too when we said "of course we will."
Thank you all from the bottom of my heart,
Kekoa
