I would like to thank Senator Breene Harimoto and his office for the invitation and opportunity to sit with Senator Harimoto and wife Cheryl, along with City Councilmember Brandon Elefante, Dr. Randall Holcombe, Director of the UH Cancer Center, Dr. Joe Ramos, Deputy Director of the UH Cancer Center, and Pearl City community leaders during Wednesday's opening of the 2017 Hawaii State Senate Legislature. It was a great experience. Also, thank you to Senator Harimoto's legislative staff who presented us with a terrific lunch following the Senate Legislative Program; Robert Sato, Senior Advisor; Linda Nunes, Office Manager; and Karen Scharfenstein, Legislative Assistant.
Senator Harimoto represents Senate Distinct 16, (Pearl City, Momilani, Pearlridge, Aiea, Royal Summit. Aiea Heights, Newtown, Waiamlu, Halawa, and Pearl Harbor). Senator Harimoto is a member of the following committees; Housing, Human Services, Transportation and Energy, Way and Means and also was appointed on Wednesday to the Senate Credentials Committee.
Newly elected Senate President Ronald D. Kouchi (Senate District 8, Kaua'i, Ni'ihau) was sworn in by the Honorable Mark E. Recktenwald, Chief Justice, Hawaii' Supreme Court and will be tasked in guiding the Hawaii State Senate to focus on the following areas in 2017;

Congratulations to Senator Harimoto on his return to representing our Pearl City community at the Hawaii State Senate. My prayers are with the Senator as he gets to work on the various committees that he represents and wish him much success in his concentrated efforts that will benefit us all.
