Cade Halemanu took care of business from the mound to lead Pearl City in a 9-0 shut-out over MKH in the opening round of the Hawaii Little League Juniors (13-14) District 7 Championship Tournament played on Saturday at Pacheco Park.
Halemanu earned the win for Pearl City in 6 2/3 innings of work. Halemanu allowed no runs on four hits with four strikeouts. Cello Casarez pitched the final out in relief for the save. Halemanu also picked up a RBI single and scored a run.
Issac Badua had a hot bat for MKH hitting 2-4 with a single and a triple.
Pearl City is in position to win the double elimination championship tournament with a win on Sunday over MKH. First pitch is set for 1:00pm at Pacheco Park. If MKH wins, they will play again at 4:00pm for the championship title.
The winner advances to the state championship tournament that runs from Thursday, July 16 through Monday, July 20 at Kailua High School.
