The following information for the Pearl City Public Library closing for renovation work is provided by the Hawaii State Public Library System:

The Pearl City Public Library, located at 1138 Waimano Home Road, will close for scheduled Renovation Projects beginning Monday, December 15. The book drop will be locked and inaccessible at 5 p.m. on Sunday, December 14 for the duration of the project, and the parking lot will be closed as well.

Renovation will include: re-roofing, re-flooring, and other improvements for the Library.

While the Library is closed, patrons may visit any of our other public libraries to return books and other materials, and browse their collections. In addition, patrons may log-on to the HSPLS website: www.librarieshawaii.org to: * Renew books and most library materials online for an additional three weeks if there are no reserves on the items. Only one renewal per item is allowed. Items that are not eligible for online renewal are Hot Picks, DVDs, videotapes, and overdue materials. Renewals will not be allowed if the item has been requested by someone else. Note: Patrons can also renew by telephone or by bringing the items to any of our public libraries for an additional three-week loan period if the items have not been previously renewed.

* Browse the HSPLS Catalog for book titles, eBooks, digital audio books, and our wide variety of online databases which provide access to full-text materials from thousands of magazines, newspapers, journals, and other publications.

* Check out our netbook computer loan program, HSPLS App, E-Resources such as HI Tech Academy, Mango Languages, Zinio for Libraries (eMagazines), and more.

* Get answers to brief informational reference questions by using the "Ask-A-Librarian" E-Reference service: select the "Information" tab, click on "E-Reference" and follow the simple instructions.

A library card is not required to use this service. An announcement will be made when the Pearl City Public Library is scheduled to reopen.
