Peanut Butter Kaaialii pitches Pearl City past Leilehua 8-4, Lady Chargers earn state tourney berth

Tyanna "Peanut Butter" Kaaialii pitched Pearl City past Leilehua 8-4 to lead the Lady Chargers to a fifth place finish in the Oahu Interscholastic Association Red Division Varsity Girls Softball Championship Tournament played on Saturday at Central Oahu Regional Park (CORP) in Waipio.

Pearl City's win over Leilehua secured a berth for the Lady Chargers in the HHSAA Division I Data House State Softball Championship Tournament scheduled for Tuesday, May 6 through Friday, May 9 at the University of Hawaii's Rainbow Wahine Stadium.

Leilehua will travel to the Big Island on Tuesday to play Waiakea for a state tournament play-in berth.

Leilehua ace Taezha Cordero took the loss for the Lady Mules in seven complete innings of work against Pearl City.  Cordero allowed eight runs on ten hits with four strikeouts and one walk.

Peanut Butter Kaaialii gave up four runs on eleven hits with three strikeouts, two walks, and a homerun in four complete innings.

Kristin Frost recorded a save for the Lady Chargers in three innings of relief. Frost held Leilehua to no runs with four hits and two strikeouts.

Leilehua's Mahealani Calizo and Pearl City's Robi Kami both homered in the contest.
