The Pearl City Chargers hosted both the OIA Varsity & Junior Varsity Western Divisional Cross Country Championships and the OIA Varsity Boys & Girls Air Riflery Semifinals at the Pearl City High School campus on Saturday, October 5.

GIRLS (3 miles)
Pearl City's Maile Shigemasa captured the OIA Varsity Girls Individual Cross Country Western Divisional Championship on Saturday at Pearl City High School with a finishing time of 19:25.70. The PCHS senior will defend her 2012 OIA Cross Country Championship title in next week Saturday's OIA Championships at Central Oahu Regional Park in Waipio. Leilehua's Mary Eccles finished in second place behind Shigemasa with a time of 19:37.98.

The Pearl City Boy's team finished in second place behind Campbell High School in last Saturday's OIA Varsity Boy's Western Divisional Cross Country Championships. Four Pearl City runners finished in the Top 10 behind winner Jakob Dewald from Mililani – 16:06.90.

OIA Varsity Boys & Girls Air Riflery Semifinals @ Pearl City High School
GIRLS
The 2013 OIA Western Division Champion Pearl City Chargers Girls Air Riflery Team continued their dominance in OIA competition defeating Roosevelt 2064 – 1867 on Saturday at the Pearl City Chargers shooting range. Ashley Somera and Kristi Takaki were top scorers for the Lady Chargers with a total of 521.14. Kristen Kaulia was the top scorer for Roosevelt with a score of 504.08.
Moanalua defeated Leilehua in the other semifinal via a forfeit.
Pearl City will challenge Moanalua for the OIA Championship on Saturday, October 12 at Pearl City High School.
BOYS
The 2013 OIA Western Division Champion Pearl City Chargers Boys Air Riflery Team suffered a rare defeat losing to Kalani by two points in the semifinals 1872-1870. Kalani's Shane Xu shot a high score of 495.05, Pearl City's Chayton Otsuka shot a high score of 478.07 for the Chargers.
Leilehua defeated Moanalua 2007.31 – 1860.24 in the other semifinal to advance to the OIA Championship this Saturday, October 12 at Pearl City High School.
