Pearl City Highlands Elementary School (PCHES) gave the community a great start to the Holiday craft fair season with the presentation of the Harvest Festival Craft Fair held on Halloween Eve, October 30th on the school campus grounds.
A large crowd of Pearl City residents (much more than expected) turned out under blue skies on Saturday to browse through rows and rows of craft fair vendors.
"We did not expect the amount of people we did," said Pearl City Highlands Elementary School Principal, Michael Nakasato. "There was basically no advertising. We expected maybe one third of the turn out. We're already talking about expanding for next year."
PCHES students from all grade levels offered Harvest Festival Craft Fair attendees ono food and drinks for sale with proceeds going towards financial support for class activities.
"As for the proceeds, everything is going to go back directly to the grade levels," said Principal Nakasato. "They're making all their money for field trips, to pay for buses, camps and that kind of stuff."
The Harvest Festival Craft Fair was an all around pleasant experience. From the moment you entered the school property, student volunteers politely and efficiently directed you to a parking stall.
Students, parents, volunteers and PCHES staff members kept the different grade level food and beverage booths well stocked and the crowd well fed and hydrated.
Once again, thank you to all the craft fair vendors for a terrific start on our communities Christmas Holiday shopping needs.
