Aloha,

Do you enjoy Hula? Well, I had the honor this past week to visit Hula Halau Na Leo Nahenahe ‘O Na Kupuna led by Kumu Hula Rosemarie Dungca at the Momilani Community Center in PearlCity. The women were terrific and very entertaining.

Kumu Hula Dungca made me feel at home. I was able to record the experience with video and photographs that is featured on our Home Page. Take a look and dance along with the Kupuna.

Pearl City welcomed home PCHS 2009 Graduate Carlton Tanabe as he returned from his first season playing Professional Baseball. Carlton was drafted out of high school in the 24th round by the Seattle Mariners. He is assigned to the Arizona Instructional League at the Rookie level. It was nice catching up with him as well as his family and the Hawaii Winter Baseball gang. Carlton is featured in our 9/23/09 MyPearlCity.com Q&A under “News” on our Home Page.

I would also like to announce our new partnership with Pearl City High School’s Messenger News writing class to provide Pearl City news content on MyPearlCity.com. Teacher and Advisor Ms. Gay Ching, guides a very special and talented group of student writers and photographers that will truly enhance our coverage of the Pearl City community.
