Pearl City powers their way to 2025 OIA DII Softball Championship title game with 21-0 semifinal win over Waialua

The #1 Pearl City Chargers advanced to the 2025 Oahu Interscholastic Association Division II Softball Championship after another overpowering win by defeating the visiting #5 Waialua Bulldogs 21-0 in the  championship tournament semifinals played at Pearl City High School.

Ther #1 Pearl City Chargers will battle the #2 Aiea Na Ali’i in the OIA DII Championship title game on Friday at the McKinley High School Softball Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00pm.

The DI Championship will follow the DII Championship on Friday. Both Championship games will be televised live on Spectrum O16.

Aiea defeated #3 Kailua 4-0 in the second semifinal match-up on Thursday to advance to the 2025 OIA Division II Softball Championship title game against Pearl City on Friday.

Pearl City starting pitcher Haley Shinjo earned the win for the Chargers. Shinjo pitched four complete innings while allowing no runs, 1 hit with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts.

Waialua starting pitcher Aika Guzman took the loss for the Bulldogs. Guzman allowed 9 hits, 13 runs, with 2 walks and no strikeouts. Harlee Dicion pitched in relief of Guzman.

Several Chargers shined and contributed at the plate as the Chargers pounding out 19 hits in three innings. Saunette Oshiro once again exploded in the batters box hitting 3-4, with a triple, 2 doubles, 2 RBI, and 3 runs scored. Harlyn Barry was a perfect 3-3 at the plate picking up 2 doubles, 3 RBI and 3 runs scored. Phoenix Sky Lumabao hit 2-3 and pounded out a HR, double, with 3 RBI, 3 runs scored. Samantha Nakamatsu hit s perfect 2-2, with a triple, 2 RBI and 2 runs scored; Charla Carnate-Tomochi 1-1, RBI, run scored; Maile Oda 1-3, run scored; Sadie Deliz 1-1, run scored; Aleia-Lyn Tonaki 2-4, double, RBI, 2 runs scored; Lilyanni Mata 1-2, double, RBI, run scored.

Waialua’s Irish Crowley crushed a double for the only Bulldog hit of the game.
