By Barry Villamil, President, Interact Director, Rotary Club of Pearlridge
The Rotary Club of Pearlridge (RCOP), along with Pearl City High School and Highlands Intermediate Rotary Interact Clubs, and RCOP supporters, lent a hand at Saturday’s Annual Honolulu City & County Pearl Harbor Bike Path Clean Up.
Everyone came together to clean and beautify a portion of the Pearl Harbor Bike Path and Pearl Harbor shoreline beginning at Blaisdell Park in Aiea/Pearl City and along the Rotary Club of Pearlridge “Adopt A Stream” area at Puuloa Springs.
Volunteer worked in teams of two to pick up and bag rubbish on the bike path and shoreline that extended from the bridge near Cutter Ford, past Puuloa Springs and just before the Hawaiian Electric Waiau Power Plant.
Mahalo to my fellow Rotary Club of Pearlridge Board members who volunteered their time on Saturday:
Dick Mosko, Rick Lau, Robyn Kalahiki, Randy Ching
Also, mahalo to Pearl City High School Interact Club Advisor Dane Souza and Highlands Intermediate Interact Club Advisor Eric White for their leadership and commitment to guiding their students to another successful Pearl Harbor Bike Path Clean Up.
PCHS and Highlands Intermediate Interact Clubs are the Heart and Soul of the Rotary Club of Pearlridge Clean & Green, sustainable environmental efforts via our unique partnership focused on bettering the community we live and thrive in.
A very special mahalo to an amazing friend Kelly Maeshiro who volunteered his time on Saturday to help out at the Annual Pearl Harbor Bike Path Clean Up. Kelly is a lifelong Pearl City resident and a proud Pearl City High School and Harvard University graduate.
Following the hour long clean up that began at 7:30am, volunteers got together for fellowship in Blaisdell Park while enjoying ono snacks and refreshments. Mahalo to Dick Mosko and Mary Villamil for providing ice cream, donuts, brownies, chips, and bottled water.
We all had a great time and were extremely grateful for the opportunity to once again serve our community together in the spirit of Rotary International’s “Service Above Self”
Wishing you and your ohana a very Happy Easter!
