Early Saturday morning in Pearl City, I set out to pick up another round of flu medicine for a really bad cold. Following the pick-up, I made a quick stop at Home Depot and when I was getting into my car to leave the parking lot and make my way through the intersection of Acacia Road and Kamehameha Highway, I heard the horrifying sound of metal crashing into metal. I didn’t see what caused the accident, but it seemed pretty bad. My prayers go out to anyone who may have been injured.
This past week, I have witnessed a lot of motorists speeding or running red lights (or both) at every intersection that I was sitting at the light or traveling through. It’s insane. Everyone needs to slow down and drive safely on our highways, streets, and through our neighborhoods while always watching out for the safety of pedestrians in crosswalks as well.
I created the “It’s Not All Right To Run The Red Light” Traffic Safety Awareness Program around 10 years ago and have gone into our schools and the community to promote traffic safety awareness
I would like to reach out to everyone reading this article to please spread the word of traffic safety awareness to your ohana, friends, and in the community.
Thank you and have a safe day.
