The Leilehua Mules were crowned the 2024-2025 Oahu Interscholastic Association Girls Junior Varsity Basketball Champions after defeating previously undefeated Pearl City Chargers in a thriller 40-39 last night at Pearl City High School.
Leilehua found themselves down by as much as 12 points in the first half but never gave up and battled back in the fourth quarter tying the game along with a few lead changes late in the fourth quarter with the Mules sinking the winning shot with 7 seconds remaining in the ball game to go up 40-39. The Mules held off the Chargers to capture the OIA Championship title.
It was a heartbreaking loss for the Chargers who finished the regular and post season at 9-1. The Chargers defeated the Mules 45-36 in the regular season. Leilehua finished the regular and post season at 8-2.
