The Rotary Club of Pearlridge spent the last few weeks distributing free dictionaries to Aiea and Pearl City third graders as part of the annual RCOP Dictionary 5000 and Good Citizen Awards Program. Over 860 third graders and their teachers representing 15 Aiea and Pearl City public and private schools received free dictionaries donated by the Rotary Club of Pearlridge Foundation.

A final Dictionary 5000 presentation and distribution was scheduled for Tuesday morning at Lehua Elementary School by RCOP Dictionary 5000 and Good Citizen Awards Program Co-chairs Emily and Grant Kuraoka.

The RCOP will return to the third graders classrooms at the end of the school year during each school’s awards assembly to present Good Citizen Awards to one boy and one girl who best exemplified Rotary International’s Principles of the “Four Way Test” and being a Good Citizen. The students will be chosen by their teachers, and each will receive a letter of recognition and a $50.00 check from the RCOP and RCOP Foundation.

Mahalo to all the teachers and third graders for welcoming RCOP Dictionary presenters into their classrooms. Also, mahalo to RCOP Dictionary 5000 presenters for their dedication towards enhancing literacy skills amongst the third graders who received their very own dictionary from the RCOP during the 2024-2025 school year.
