By Barry Villamil, President, Rotary Club of Pearlridge
We had another amazing and inspiring experience on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, as the Rotary Club of Pearlridge (RCOP) hand delivered 97 free dictionaries to Kanoelani Elementary third graders and their teachers in a very special presentation held in the school cafeteria,
RCOP Dictionary 5000 and Good Citizen Awards Program co-chairs Emily and Grant Kuroaka led the distribution of dictionaries to the students and teachers and introduction of the contents in their brand new dictionaries. Emily and Grant also introduced to them the Principles of Rotary International’s Four Way Test.
Mahalo to Hawaii Rotary District 5000 Past District Governor and RCOP Past President Dick Mosko who also participated in the passing out free dictionaries on Tuesday.
The RCOP Dictionary 5000 and Good Citizen Awards Program is sponsored by the RCOP Foundation. Nine-hundred free dictionaries will be donated to third graders and their teachers representing fourteen public and private elementary schools in both Aiea and Pearl City during the 2024-2025 school year.
The RCOP will also award thirty-one outstanding third graders with Good Citizen Awards at the end of the school year awards assemblies. Each award winner will receive a recognition letter and $50.00 check award.
Mahalo to the Kanoelani Elementary School third grade teachers for welcoming our RCOP presenters to their school and opportunity to reconnect with them and meet the third graders. It was a lot of fun!
