It was another extremely rewarding day of serving the Pearl City community as volunteers from the Mana Loa Nimitz Lions Club (MLNLC) and Rotary Club of Pearlridge (RCOP) helped out on Saturday, August 24 at the Hawaii Foodbank Food Day Drive held at the Pearl City Shopping Center. MLNLC President Elly Frilles led a group of around twenty club volunteers, while I, Barry Villamil, represented the RCOP as its President, and as a MLNLC member. I was also proud and honored to represent the Pearl City Shopping Center and MyPearlCity.com.
Volunteers sign waved from 8am to 10am along Kamehameha Highway fronting the Hawaii Foodbank Food Day Drive donation collection site located on the Pearl City Shopping Center property. We also volunteered alongside Hawaii Foodbank staff and volunteers, community groups, and volunteers representing Hawaii businesses.
There was a total of six Hawaii Foodbank Food Day Drive donation collection sites across Oahu on Saturday:
Waterfront Plaza
Ka Makana Ali’i
Pearl City Shopping Center
Town Center of Mililani
Waiokeola Congregational Church
Windward City Shopping Center
Hawaii Lions District 50 has invited Hawaii Rotary District 5000 to team up on Saturday, September 21, 2024 during the Hawaii Foodbank Food Drive. Rotary Club of Pearlridge volunteers, led by RCOP Officer Gordon Arakaki, will be helping out at the Hawaii State Capitol from 8am-12pm. Rotarian Gordon is organizing our participation and support for the much-needed food drive. It will be another great opportunity to serve the community together as Hawaii Lions and Hawaii Rotarians while supporting the Hawaii Foodbank and their humanitarian efforts to provide nourishment to Hawaii families in need.
