The Mililani Trojans shut down and shut out the Pearl City Chargers 4-0 in Oahu Interscholastic Association Western Division Baseball played at Pearl City High School on Saturday. Mililani ace Kai Hirayama held Charger bats to 3 hits, no runs, with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts in 6 complete innings for the Trojans. Kayden Suma closed out the ball game in relief in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Pearl City’s Noah Bernal got the start and took the loss for the Chargers pitching 5 complete innings while allowing 1 run, 2 hits with 4 walks and 3 strikeouts. Kelan Young, Devin Won, and Noah Kia pitched in relief for the Chargers.
Pearl City snapped a three-game win streak with the loss to Mililani on Saturday and a chance to move up in league standings. Aiea leads the OIA Western Division I standings at 6-1, while Campbell (5-2) and Mililani (5-2) sit one game behind in league standings. Pearl City (3-4) is three games out of first place.
The Chargers have a tough schedule ahead and an opportunity to pick up two key wins that would turnaround their position in league standings. The Chargers play league leading Aiea on Wednesday at home (3:00pm) and will take on second place Campbell on the road on Saturday (11:00am) at Campbell High School. Pearl City dropped both games against Aiea, 7-2 and Campbell, 15-7 in first round play. Campbell was bumped out of a first-place tie with Aiea after losing to Nanakuli 4-2 on Saturday at Nanakuli High School.
Second place Mililani and Campbell will play in huge Western Division I match-up on Wednesday, April 3 at CORP with first pitch scheduled for 6:30pm. The game will be televised live on Spectrum Sports OC16. Mililani defeated Campbell 4-2 on March 9 at Campbell High School.
