The Pearl City Chargers defense kept the Roosevelt Roughriders in check with a strong, relentless attack in the Roughrider backfield led by a stellar performance by senior defensive lineman Joseph Pomele. Pomele recorded 3 sacks and a fumble recovery in the ball game. The Chargers defense sacked the Roughrider QB 8 times.

The Chargers defense scored the first points of the ball game on a safety on Roughrider QB Ioane Kamanao with 1:02 remaining in the first quarter.
QB Trey Dacoscos led the Chargers offense through the rainy night passing for 210 yards while completing 14-35 with 1 touchdown and 1 interception. Derek Kusano led all receivers catching 4 passes for 94 yards and 1 touchdown.
Roughrider QB Ioane Kamanao completed 7-16 for 30 yards and no touchdowns.
Pearl City outgained Roosevelt 240 – 92 yards of net offense.
Pearl City improved to 2-0 (league) 3-0 (overall). Roosevelt is 1-1 (league) 2-1 (overall).
The Chargers return to action on Saturday, September 9 against the McKinley Tigers at Pearl City High School’s Edwin Bino Neves Stadium. Kickoff is set for 5:00pm.
The Chargers JV and Varsity teams swept the Roughriders Friday night at Ticky Vasconcellos Stadium with the JV coming away with a hard fought 20-14 win.
