The Leilehua Mules broke a 4-4 tie in the top of the eighth inning and went on to beat the Pearl City Chargers 5-4 on Wednesday at Pearl City High School.
Leilehua jumped out in front of Pearl City with a 4-run, top of the second inning rally to take a 4-0 lead. Pearl City scored 2 runs each in the bottom of the fifth and sixth innings to tie the game at 4-4. Leilehua scored the go ahead run in the top of eight inning and held the Chargers scoreless in the bottom of the eight for the win.
The Chargers fell to 1-4 in Oahu Interscholastic Association Western Division I Baseball. Leilehua is 2-2 in league standings.
Bryden Takayama earned the win in relief for the Mules pitching 2 2/3 innings while allowing no runs, no hits with 2 strikeouts.
Koen Barton got the start for the Mules pitching 5 innings while allowing 2 runs, 3 hits, and no strikeouts.
Pearl City’s Drew Boyles took the loss for the Chargers in relief. Drew allowed one run, two hits with 2 strikeouts.
Kobie Corpuz got the start pitching 1/3 innings, allowing 4 runs, 2 hits, with no strikeouts.

Pearl City will host Nanakuli (3-1) on Wednesday, March 29 with first pitch scheduled for 3:00pm. Nanakuli moved up to the OIA Division I in 2023 after capturing the 2022 Oahu Interscholastic Association Division 2 Baseball Championship. Pearl City will finish the regular season first round against Nanakuli.
