Hawaiian Electric crews will replace a utility pole along Hoomalu Street in Pearl City on Tuesday, Feb. 28, to improve system reliability.
The work will close both eastbound lanes of Hoomalu, between Puu Poni Street and Moanalua Road, and traffic rerouted from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Nearby residents may hear the sounds of the construction work as specialized equipment is used to replace the pole and also can expect an increased volume of traffic in the surrounding areas.
Starting today, electronic message boards will be displayed on Hoomalu and Puu Poni to inform residents of the planned work. During the workday, safety measures will be in place to alert motorists of the work zone and control traffic. TheBus will be able to continue its route on Hoomalu under the direction of special duty police.
Motorists are encouraged to plan alternate routes and expect traffic delays during the work hours.
