Congratulations to the Pearl City Chargers who defeated the McKinley Tigers 27-7 last night in OIA D2 varsity football action played at Roosevelt High School.
Pearl City QB Trey Dacoscos had another stellar performance for the Chargers passing for 218 yards while completing 25/36 and 3 touchdowns. Dacoscos also rushed 5 times for 28 yards. Shaedyn Quemado led the Chargers ground game rushing for 77 yards on 15 carries. Bobby Best rushed 5 times for 41 yards.
Koali’i Torres hauled in 5 catches for 81 yards and a touchdown, while Derek Kusano caught 4 passes for 53 yards and 2 touchdowns.
McKinley QB Ali’i Togafau passed for 195 yards with 1 touchdown and 1 interception. Preston Note led all receivers with 125 yards on 5 catches and 1 touchdown.
Note scored the first touchdown of the ball game late in the first quarter on a 65 yard touchdown bomb from QB Togafau to put the Tigers up 7-0 after a successful PAT.
The Chargers came right back to tie the game at 7-7 on a 70 yard kick-off return by Bobby Best and a successful Marcus Rodriguez PAT.
The Chargers would score two times late in the second quarter on an 8 yard pass from Trey Dacoscos to Derek Kusano and another touchdown strike from Dacoscos to Kusano of 22 yards that gave the Chargers a 21-7 lead after a couple PAT’s by Rodriguez.
Pearl City scored their final touchdown of the ball game late in the third quarter on a 30 yard touchdown reception connection from QB Dacoscos to Koali’i Torres. Pearl City went up over the Tigers 27-7. The PAT failed.
The Chargers return to league play on Saturday, September 3 against the Kalaheo Mustangs at Kailua High School with kick off set for 6:30pm.
McKinley (0-2 league play) will take on the Kaimuki Bulldogs (1-1 league) on Friday, September 2 at Roosevelt High School with kick off scheduled for 7:00pm.
