A few words from Daphne Okunaga
Want to join us in making a difference?
Pearl City High School Parent Teacher Student Association (PCHS PTSA / PTA Hawaii Congres) is asking for help to raise funds to support our senior students representing Pearl City High School in the SkillsUSA National Competition this May in Georgia.
The pandemic changed everything about education for our students. The need to protect our communities from the spread of COVID-19 meant that many students missed out on pivotal high school experiences like games, dances, concerts, plays, college tours, and more. As parents, educators and students, this breaks our hearts and we're trying to do everything possible to bring these experiences back for our students, so today, we're asking for your help.
At Pearl City High School, we have a team of 3 Seniors (2 for TV Production, 1 for Photography) who are talented digital media students. You can see some of their work here on PBS Hawaii HIKI NŌ: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J09IEE0J1oI These students have been given the incredible opportunity to compete at the national level to showcase their film and photography skills at the SkillsUSA National Competition this May in Georgia. We desperately want these students to have this national experience, but the cost is a barrier.
Attending this competition will be a powerful networking experience for these students and potentially a launchpad to future college endeavors — we just have to get them to Georgia this May. Any donation amount helps. If you can't donate, it helps us if you share this story so that others might see it on all social media.
