I have met and become friends with so many wonderful and incredible people since becoming the curator of the Messages of Life WALL at the Pearl City Shopping Center in November of 2017. Pearl City is blessed with a very giving and generous senior community who look out for one another as they share their hearts and compassion for everyone.
I have been blessed by becoming friends with Pearl City resident Raquel Asinas "The Bicycle Lady of Pearl City" who I met at the WALL and bonded as friends instantly. We spend time together once a week, every Thursday morning at the WALL before she makes her way on her 3-wheel bicycle to recycle bottle and cans at the Pearl City Shopping Center Reynolds Recycling Center.
Today was a special day as Raquel presented me with a pack of brand new tie-down straps for me to use to secure cargo in my truck bed. The gift was truly from her heart and I will always be grateful for her generosity and friendship.
At 81 years old, Raquel is loved by all that she touches in her Pearl City community and beyond. I can't wait to catch up with my friend next Thursday morning.
