Cultivating Healthier Choices at Pearl City Highlands Elementary

Congratulations to Pearl City Highlands Elementary student farmers and their teachers who have begun to reap the rewards from their hard work creating and cultivating vegetable garden beds on the school grounds. The harvest is on as fresh, beautifully grown cucumber’s, green beans, eggplant, and corn make their way from the students hands to the table. The vegetable garden is a part of the school’s effort to teach and provide “Healthier Choices” for their students.

The students are also growing garden trees to attract butterflies.  The PCHES Butterfly Garden is abounding with beautiful butterflies as some of the trees have reached about three feet in height. I recently visited the PCHES Butterfly Garden and was amazed at the huge, vibrant colored Monarch butterflies floating above and throughout the garden. It was so beautiful and peaceful.

Thank you for sharing your very special gardens with me!

Great job!
