Pearl City blasts past Waialua 15-3 at 2016 Hawaii Little League D7 Championship Tourney

Pearl City blasted their way past Waialua 15-3 (5 innings) on Saturday in the quarterfinals of the 2016 Hawaii Little League Majors District 7 Championship Tournament played at Puuiki Field in Waialua.

Drew Boyles earned the win pitching four complete innings. Mark Moreno closed it out in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Ramsey Ramos got the start for Waialua. Ramos also scored the first run of the ball game after hitting a lead-off solo home run to right field in the bottom of the first inning.

Mark Moreno hit a 3-run home run blast that sailed over the center field fence in the six-run, top of the third inning. Moreno's home run broke a 2-2 tie and put Pearl City up 5-2.

Pearl City piled up six runs in the top of third inning, three runs in the fourth inning and exploded for six runs in the fifth inning. Waialua held a 2-0 lead after two complete innings.

Pearl City will take on Waipio on Sunday, July 10 at Puuiki Field with first pitch scheduled for 10:00am. Winner advances to the championship. Loser drops into the losers bracket in the double elimination format championship tournament.

Mark Moreno crushed a 3-run homerun over the center field fence in the

top of the third inning that broke a 2-2 and put Pearl City in the lead at 5-2.

Moreno also closed out the ball game in the bottom of the fifth inning in

relief of starter Drew Boyles who pitched four complete innings for the win.
