Mahalo to our Pearl City Complex Schools and sponsors for a very successful “It’s Not All Right To Run The Red Light” Traffic Safety Awareness Campaign!

The 2nd Annual “It’s Not All Right To Run The Red Light” Traffic Safety Awareness Campaign kicked off with a Sign-Waving event on Thursday, April 7, 2016 from 7:15am to 8:00am fronting all 10 Pearl City District Complex Schools.

Pearl City District Complex Schools

Kanoelani Elementary, Lehua Elementary, Manana Elementary, Momilani Elementary, Palisades Elementary, Pearl City Elementary, Pearl City Highlands, Waiau Elementary, Highlands Intermediate and Pearl City High School.

Students representing eight Pearl City Complex Elementary Schools from Grades K-6 also participated in the It’s Not All Right To Run The Red Light Poster Coloring Contest that ran from Thursday, March 31 – Thursday, April 14.

Certificate Awards were presenting to the top three selections in three grade level categories: K-1, 2-4, and 5-6. Top three overall entries from each school received Pearl City Shopping Center Gift Certificates; 1st Place – $50.00, 2nd Place – $25.00, and 3rd Place – $25.00. Judging was conducted by the Pearl City Community Association.

The Pearl City Shopping Center Merchants Association awarded a $100.00 PCSC Gift Certificate for their choice for the Best Overall Design which went to Manana Elementary School 6th grader Samantha Sumstine.

The Pearl City Community Association awarded two students with $100.00 checks for their choice as the Best Overall Design and Red Light Traffic Safety Message. Waiau Elementary School’s Aleah Meneses and Kanoelani Elementary School’s Dana Dela Cruz were chosen as this year’s winners.

All awards were presented at each school’s end of school year awards assemblies in May.

The objective of the “It’s Not All Right To Run The Red Light” Traffic Safety Awareness Campaign is to teach our Pearl City Complex students the importance of traffic safety and the dangers of running red lights and stop signs. The Red Light campaign seeks to engage them in participating in traffic safety programs that will allow them to grow up to be safe drivers in our neighborhoods and roadways traveled in the future.  Our hope is that their experience and gained knowledge with regard to traffic safety will be perpetuated and passed on to the next generation.

Mahalo to all the Pearl City Complex students, teachers and administration for their amazing efforts and support in getting the “It’s Not All Right To Run The Red Light” message out throughout the Pearl City community.

Also, mahalo for the dedication and support to our Pearl City Complex students and schools from the wonderful generosity of our sponsors and community organizations:
