The Rotary Club of Pearlridge began presenting Good Citizen Awards on Wednesday and Thursday to third grade students representing twelve Pearl City and Aiea schools as a part of Rotary International's Annual Dictionary 5000 Project.
Over 845 students and their teachers received brand new dictionaries from the Rotary Club of Pearlridge in the beginning of the 2014-2015 school year. The students were introduced to the Rotary Club's "Four Way Test" that helped guide them toward being good citizens. Each dictionary included the "Four Way Test" Principles for the students to study and practice.
"Four Way Test"
1. Is it the truth;
2. Is it fair to all concerned,
3. Will it bring good will and better friendships,
4. Will it be beneficial to all concerned.
Earlier this month, teachers selected one boy and one girl from their third grade class who best exemplified being good citizens. Each student will receive a $50.00 check for being selected.
Pearlridge Rotarians made presentations to Gus Webling Elementary and Pearl Ridge Elementary in Aiea on Wednesday, May 27. Pearl City Elementary received their Good Citizen Awards Thursday afternoon. All presentations are being made during the end of school year awards assemblies.
The Rotary Club of Pearlridge would like to congratulate the students for their achievements in being recognized as a Good Citizen in their school and community.
