Kanamu’s OT bucket lifts Pearl City over Aiea 32-30

Pearl City's Garrett Kanamu put an exclamation mark on the Chargers senior night home court finale last night after scoring the winning basket in OT to defeat Aiea 32-30. The Chargers victory improved their Oahu Interscholastic Association Division I regular season record to 7-2 with one game remaining in their schedule. The win secured the third seed from the West in the upcoming OIA DI Varsity Boys Basketball Championships. Aiea fell to 3-6 and will be seeded #1 from the West in the OIA Division II championship tourney.

Kanamu scored the game winner under the basket halfway through the four-minute overtime period. Kanamu also led the Chargers with 12 points. Aiea's Kysen Helepololei and Christian Kessell scored 10 points each for the Na Ali'i.

The Chargers return to action on the road at Nanakuli on Friday, February 6.
