Pearl City takes on Kapaa in D2 state football first round, Saturday, 11/8

The Pearl City Chargers (9-2) touchdown on Kauai on Saturday to battle the Kapaa Warriors (6-) in the first round of the HHSAA Division 2 State Football Championship playoffs scheduled for Vidinha Stadium in Lihue.

The Chargers are coming off a runner-up finish to the Nanakuli Golden Hawks in the Oahu Interscholastic Association Divsion 2 Championship game won by the Golden Hawks in an overtime thriller 37-36 on Friday, October 31, 2014 at Aloha Stadium.

The last time the Chargers and Warriors played each other was on November, 12, 2011 in the first round of the 2011 D2 state championships won by Kapaa 7-0 at Vidniha Stadium in Lihue.

The Chargers will be led by QB Jordan Taamu and Dominic Maneafaiga on offense and Pjay Solomon and Petro Mataia on the defense.

Taamu has compiled an impressive 1523 yards in passing with 26 touchdowns. He has rushed for 314 yards on 51 carries with 2 touchdowns.

Maneafaiga has been a workhorse for the Chargers hauling in 36 catches for 518 yards with 9 TD's. Maneafaiga has also pounded out 680 yards on the ground on 105 carries with 9 touchdowns for an average of 6.5 yards per carry.
