The Pearl City Lady Chargers finished runner-up to Mid Pacific Institute in the HHSAA Girls State Air Riflery Championships held on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at the Neil Blaisdell Exhibition Hall in Honolulu.

Mid Pacific edged the defending state champion Lady Chargers 2103 – 2106  (three point margin of victory).

St. Francis High School's Isabel Villanueva won the individual championship title with a combined score of 548.

Danielle Tanabe led the Lady Chargers with a personal best combined score of 541.

The Lady Chargers had an excellent 2014 regular and post season that was capped with being crowned  the 2014 Oahu Interscholastic Association Girls Air Riflery Champions on Saturday, October 11. The team is strong with a good mix of underclassmen filling in key roles. The future looks bright for Pearl City Head Coach Les Aranaydo and his shooters as they reload for next year.

"We're only losing one shooter," said Coach Aranaydo. "Kristi Takaki is a senior. We look pretty good. It's just a matter of keeping it up."

Coach Aranaydo is also looking to improve his boys team shooters as well. The 2014 roster carried 19 team members.

"Today we had two of our boys competing," Coach Aranaydo said. "We have a freshman Eric Schlitzkus and a senior Travis Ibera. Hopefully we can build up the boys team for next year."
