Pearl City shines at 2013-14 OIA Awards Banquet

The Oahu Interscholastic Association (OIA) held their annual awards dinner last night at the Ala Moana Hotel to celebrate and recognize the athletic accomplishments of the 23 OIA membership schools who competed in 24 sports during the 2013-2014 school year.

Our Pearl City Chargers had another banner year and were well represented while being recognized for their multiple team and individual OIA and HHSAA State Championship wins.

Pearl City Chargers basketball coach Miles Okamura was also honored by the Oahu Interscholastic Association for his 20 years of outstanding contributions and dedicated service as an OIA coach.

Congratulations to Pearl City High School Principal Aaron Tominaga, Vice Principals; Kyle Miyashiro, Shane Greenland, and Herman Leong, PCHS Athletic Director Reid Shigemasa, the entire PCHS coaching staff, student athletes, athletic trainers, PCHS faculty, as well as the awesome Chargers fans and supporters.

Mahalo to special invited guests, State Senator David Ige, State Representatives Gregg Takayama, Roy Takumi, and K. Mark Takai, and retired PCHS Athletics Director Roy Ichinose and his wife Sandra, for their support and attendance last night to congratulate and honor the Pearl City Chargers athletics program.

has been a longtime coach for both the boys and girls varsity and junior varsity basketball programs.
