Waipio brings down Pearl City 14-1 in 9/10 District 7 Little League Tourney

Waipio continued their dominance in the 2014 District 7 Little League 9 & 10 Baseball Championship Tournament after defeating Pearl City 14-1 on Saturday at Puuiki Field in Waialua. The ball game was called after four complete innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.

Waipio's Josh Aribal picked up the win in four complete innings of work. Karter Wong (3 2/3) and Drew Boyles (1/3) combined on the mound for Pearl City.

Pearl City (1-1) will play Nanakuli (2-1) this afternoon at 1:00pm for a chance to play Waipio (3-0) in the District 7 championship game scheduled for Monday, June 16 at Puuiki Field. The winner of today's game will have the task of beating Waipio twice for the championship in the double elimination format tournament. Nanakuli defeated Waialua 6-0 on Saturday to advance.

Waipio picked up two runs in the top of the second inning, four runs in the top of the third, and broke the game wide open in the top of the fourth inning after exploding at the plate with eight runs that increased their lead over Pearl City by 13 runs at 14-1.

Pearl City scored their only run in the bottom of the second inning on a sac ground out to first base by Kobie Corpuz.that scored Karter Wong from third base.
