Volunteers from the Rotary Club of Pearlridge joined students from Aiea High School's Interact Club and American Red Cross Service Club on Sunday, December 9, 2012 at Pearlridge Center's Uptown in support of the Salvation Army's Angel Tree Project.
Angel Tree volunteers assisted shoppers in selecting an Angel card from the Angel Tree that was located near Farrell's Restaurant. Each Angel card had a special Christmas gift wish request from a child written on each card. After selecting an Angel card, shoppers purchased the gifts and brought them back to the volunteers to make their donation.
The annual Salvation Army Angel Tree Project, with the support of community volunteers, helps deliver thousands of Christmas presents to Hawaii's needy each year. The Angel Project also accepts donations at Kahala Mall and Windward Mall besides the Pearlridge Shopping Center location through December 16, 2012.
This is the third year in a row that I have been involved in the Angel Tree project as a volunteer representing the Rotary Club of Pearlridge. With each year, I am truly amazed at the generosity of so many holiday shoppers who give from their hearts, so that those in need, will have a special gift under their tree on Christmas Day.
Mahalo to Pearlridge Rotarian Greg Arakaki for his efforts and dedication in coordinating community service projects with the Aiea High School Interact Program.
Merry Christmas!
