The Manana Elementary School PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) is seeking vendors for its annual “Celebrate Spring” Craft Fair to be held on Saturday, April 16, 2011, at the Manana Elementary School campus in Pearl City. The fair will run from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Its fourth year in existence, the craft fair is organized by parent volunteers at Manana Elementary School, along with help from staff, students, and school users. “The craft fair has been getting bigger every year,” said Chairperson Jodi Akasaki. “The first year we had about 40 vendors, and this year we have space for over 70 vendors.”
The PTO is hoping for another successful event this year. The 184-member strong organization has been a valuable partner to Manana Elementary School, located in Pearl City, providing each grade level with extra funds for special projects, paying for field trip transportation, supporting extracurricular groups like the chorus and JPOs, and sponsoring a school-wide art competition. This year, the PTO is hoping to help the school purchase more laptops to keep up with its rapidly growing enrollment.
The craft fair is a lot of work, but it is worth it,” said PTO president Bonnie Tokita. “Everyone, and I mean everyone—parents, teachers, cafeteria staff, custodians, office staff, students, school users—everyone pitches in and volunteers their time to help out. We all know it’s for our kids, so we all help.”
The format of this year’s event will follow that of years’ past, with vendors occupying booths in the cafeteria and around the Manana campus. There will also be games for children as well as food for sale, with the proceeds benefitting the Manana Elementary School PTO, a 501(c)(3) organization.
Booth fees range from $50 to $80, depending on size, location, and electrical needs. Interested persons should call 453-6430, email [email protected], or visit http://www.manana.k12.hi.us/ and click on the PTO link. The deadline for applications is April 4, 2011.
