Pearl City High School Alumni, Dallas Carter (PCHS '77) has an entrepreneurial spirit that can be traced back to his teenage years growing up in Pearl City. He has always been known as a hard worker, and as the owner of Bistro Blends of Hawaii, it's business as usual.

"We sell a good balsamic out of Modena, Italy. That's the base to our product and we have it in flavors like blackberry, raspberry, strawberry and we have it mixed with olive oils. We have a bunch of different oils that you an use for pastas, salads, poke, to cook shrimp and steaks," said Carter.

"It's very healthy, high in antioxidants, low in fat, very low in sodium. It's really healthy and it's starting to get more and more popular in the United States. Its been real popular in Europe for centuries."

Building, branding and marketing the Bistro Blends of Hawaii product line to Hawaii consumers requires team work. On the day of this interview, the Bistro Blends of Hawaii team was set up by 3:00pm at the Windward Mall Farmer's Market after spending the morning through early afternoon working their (Wednesday) Aloha Stadium flee market location.

"I have my son, my daughter, my daughter's boyfriend, my wife, my brother, the whole family is involved. We can go do multiple locations on Saturday's and Sunday's," said Carter. "We do the flee markets, the farmers markets, trade shows, expos and gift fairs. We do as many open market venues as we can."

Even with the amount of venues on the Bistro Blends of Hawaii plate, the team is always looking to expand their business and give others an opportunity to grow with the product line as well.

"Our main thing is to let people taste it and they can understand how good it is. So, small stores, mom & pop places, anybody that has some kind of business idea on how to sell the product, we're very open to anybody that wants to try and  make some money along with us," said Carter.

Dallas Carter goes about his business in a manner of wanting to make money, of course, but always thinking of the other guy as well. That's why he sells what he sells. A product that he can share. Congratulations to the Bistro Blends of Hawaii Ohana!

Another PCHS Alum doing well in the community.
